World Wetlands Day 2025 at Yamuna Biodiversity Park

Yamuna Biodiversity Park– the first of its kind in the world, was initiated 22 years ago by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in collaboration with Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE), University of Delhi which spreads over an area of 185 Ha in Yamuna River floodplains in the upstream of Wazirabad reservoir. The restored Yamuna Biodiversity Park now harbour diverse ecosystems of riverscape which includes floodplain wetlands, characteristics floodplain grasslands and forests communities. These ecosystems harbour 2000 species of plants and animals living together in form of 25-30 biological communities and have been rendering a wide range of ecological services worth of several million rupees annually and become living laboratory to witness recovery of lost floodplain ecosystems.
